We are hiring a qualified Meteorologist to join a team involved in the study of the causes of particular weather conditions from information obtained from the land, sea and upper atmosphere. In addition to forecasting, he will be required to study the impact of the weather on the environment. He will also be required to conduct research on weather patterns and climate change and perfect models of weather prediction.

Responsibilities:
In weather forecasting, typical work activities involve:

• Collecting data from satellite images, radar, remote sensors and weather stations from all over the world;
• Measuring air pressure, wind, temperature and humidity;
• Applying computer models and scientific principles to make short- and long-range weather forecasts; and
• Supplying weather data, bulletins and reports to Management.

In areas of research, typical work activities include:

• Investigating weather patterns and climate change;
• Developing and improving computer forecasting models; and
• Applying research to practical problems, such as predicting rainfall intensities for reservoir operations and flood management and how the weather would give rise to drought conditions or affect the spread of pollution or disease.

Requirements:Applicants should possess a good Honours degree in Engineering, Sciences or any relevant disciplines. Applicants with relevant work experience are also invited to apply for this position.
