A Construction Project Manager usually oversees standard building processes and ensures that projects are completed within agreed deadlines and budget. Their key responsibilities can vary from, planning and budgeting, coordinating with architects and engineers, obtaining necessary permits, to tracking inventory supplies and compling to legal and safety regulations. They find their roles in various settings, such as residential housing developments, commercial construction companies and large-scale infrastructure projects.
Tasks and duties
- Planning, coordinating and supervising construction projects and completing them in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Collaborating with architects, engineers and other professionals to determine the specifications of the project.
- Preparing and submitting construction project budget estimates.
- Overseeing the selection and purchase of materials and equipment needed for construction.
- Ensuring compliance with building and safety regulations, and communicating with regulators and inspectors throughout projects.
- Navigating and resolving any problems that might arise onsite, whether they relate to construction delays, safety concerns or cost overruns.
- Evaluating and managing risk, and periodically reporting the progress of projects to stakeholders.
