With over two decades of industry experience, AETOS stands out as a leading unified security solutions provider in Singapore. Seamlessly integrating its manpower expertise with cutting-edge technologies, AETOS provides bespoke security and safety solutions that are tailored to meet the diverse needs of its clientele and communities.

Harnessing the power of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and 3D digital twins, AETOS is revolutionising security operations in today’s ever-evolving digital landscape. Through innovative solutions such as its agnostic AI-powered platform, Aquila-X, and a full range of unmanned aerial vehicle services (UAVs), AETOS can enhance business and security outcomes—driving significant manpower savings while harnessing data to automate threat detection and optimise resource allocation. These technological strides not only bolster operational efficiency but also help clients achieve their sustainability goals. Aquila-X, for instance, can track the carbon footprint of fleet operations and buildings, enhancing real-time situational awareness and facilitating transformative facility management operations.

Undoubtedly, the advancements made are a testament to the dedication and contributions of AETOS' 5,000-strong workforce, including frontline officers and corporate staff. Recognising their pivotal role, AETOS invests in their personal and professional development through robust training programs, fostering a culture of lifelong learning within the organisation, while also prioritising their well-being with comprehensive welfare initiatives. We spoke to Mr. Vincent Soh, Vice President of Integrated Training from AETOS Training Academy, to learn more about how AETOS is nurturing talent in the security industry.

Progressive Training and Development

Due to tight labour market conditions and shift hours, most security agencies may not be keen for their officers to take on additional training unless absolutely necessary. However, AETOS has managed to overcome this by “bringing the training to their officers”, such as on-the-job training by supervisors and trainers, periodic ground evaluation exercises to identify skill gaps and e-learning modules.

Since adopting the blended learning approach, AETOS has witnessed a remarkable average time savings of 24 learning hours per employee, leading to a significant boost in productivity. According to SGT (APF) Goh Soo Fong, an Auxiliary Police Officer at AETOS, the e-learning platform has enabled her to take charge of her professional development while managing responsibilities at work.

"Thanks to the e-learning platform, I can now access learning resources and upskill myself anytime and anywhere. The diverse range of courses provided by AETOS not only equips me with essential skill sets like first aid and customer service but also ensures that I stay up-to-date with the latest industry requirements,” said SGT (APF) Goh Soo Fong.

Becoming Future-Ready

In line with Singapore’s SkillsFuture Movement to provide citizens with opportunities to reach their fullest potential, AETOS believes that continuous learning and development are essential for lifelong capability development and employability.

“Our employees are equipped with the necessary skill sets for the future workplace, including digital, analytical, and leadership development skills to take on evolving industry demands. To facilitate our workforce transformation, AETOS has developed a robust framework comprising three key thrusts—recruitment, training and appraisal,” said Mr. Vincent Soh.

  • Skill-based Recruitment: AETOS practices skills-based hiring, with interviews and assessments focusing on the respective traits required for the job. Job descriptions are reviewed based on practical requirements and career paths are mapped out clearly to ensure equitable opportunities, from hiring to development, and promotion—integral for talent nurturing and progression for new jobseekers and mid-careerists.
  • Training: Specific milestones are included in employees’ learning-and-development roadmaps and competency frameworks, which are designed to upskill and reskill them in line with organisational goals.
  • Appraisal: AETOS has a comprehensive appraisal system that covers goal-setting, mid-term reviews, and year-end assessments. The organisation is currently looking to enhance this process with a 360-degree review so employees of all levels can attain objective, multi-source feedback.

As an added incentive, employees who achieve specific competencies are rewarded with skills-based allowances, further motivating them to invest in their career growth.

Prioritising Employee Well-being and Recognition

AETOS places a profound emphasis on the well-being of its most valuable asset—its employees. The holistic well-being of its diverse and talented workforce is not just a corporate goal but an ingrained philosophy.

Besides a network of in-house well-being coaches who provide emotional care and psychological support, employees have access to wellness-related webinars covering topics like financial planning, self-care, and stress management. To further enhance employee well-being while fostering cohesiveness, AETOS also regularly organises team-bonding and wellness activities such as futsal, kickboxing and family day, among others.

As part of its commitment to ensure the contributions and achievements of its people do not go unnoticed, employees who perform exceptionally well will receive the “Extraordinary Award”, coupled with incentives like special deployment, hardship and risk allowances, as well as annual promotions and long service awards.

Being a progressive employer of choice, AETOS provides salary and benefits packages that are above industry standards. The organisation attracts top talent by investing in their professional development and growth through continuous training, upskilling and mentorship opportunities. Enhanced welfare benefits include comprehensive group insurance, including life, personal accident, hospital and surgical, outpatient, travel, and injury compensation. AETOS also provides up to 4,800 employee welfare club memberships and extends these benefits to its employees’ family members. Other initiatives include annual complimentary occupational health screening, and union membership which is 100% subsidised by AETOS.

A Culture that Welcomes Feedback and Diversity

At AETOS, transparency isn't just a buzzword—it’s a core commitment upheld in every aspect of work, and employees are empowered to exchange feedback and voice their concerns directly with their supervisors and senior management. Whether it's through an all-in-one centralised internal communications platform, regular town hall briefings, fireside chats, or established feedback channels, AETOS employees have multiple channels to communicate and seek clarification on any matters.

“Moreover, AETOS recognises the value of diversity and inclusivity, especially in a traditionally male-dominated industry like security. We strive to uplift our female employees through dedicated women leadership programmes. The result of this initiative is evident, as AETOS has seen more than 40% increase in the number of women assuming leadership roles within our organisation in the past five years,” said Mr. Vincent Soh.
