What's it like to be a Relationship Manager?
A Relationship Manager serves as a liaison between a company and a client. They are in charge of ensuring smooth and problem-free ties with clients in order to further drive business goals such as sales. A Relationship Manager regularly meets with clients, if possible, to discuss new products or services.
Tasks and duties
- Identifying potential opportunities for new business with clients.
- Regularly meeting and checking up on clients to address their needs and concerns.
- Building important relationships with clients, partners, and suppliers, old and new.
- Using customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Setting up meetings or calls with clients to inform them about new products, offerings, and services.
- Assessing and recommending client satisfaction.
How to become a Relationship Manager
There is no specific degree required to become a Relationship Manager. Business knowledge and skills in customer service may give you an advantage.
Obtain a polytechnic or university degree in any field. You may opt for communications, psychology, or anything pertaining to human resources.
Familiarise yourself with various CRM tools.
Gain years of experience working in a relationship management department.
