What's it like to be a Clerk?
Clerks perform administrative tasks in an office. This can include keeping records, copying files, procuring and managing office supplies, operating office equipment such as printers and photocopiers and preparing documents. They help ensure an office runs smoothly by taking care of clerical tasks, handling vendors and suppliers, addressing customer enquiries and replenishing out of stock office supplies.
Tasks and duties
- Receiving phone calls, answering enquiries and fielding calls.
- Receiving, updating and storing important files and company records.
- Helping manage and settle office bills.
- Sorting and filing documents related to business transactions and office-related activities.
- Tracking the inventory of office supplies and replenishing them as needed.
- Taking down minutes in meetings.
- Preparing correspondences and distributing internal memos.
- Planning and booking company events, including travel and venue arrangements.
- Managing calendars and schedules.
How to become a Clerk
While there are no specific requirements to become a Clerk, many companies prefer candidates who have at least finished their ‘O’ levels.
Complete your ‘O’ Levels in secondary school.
