A Graphic Designer is tasked to visually communicate information through the use of digital tools. They combine images, illustrations, text, and typography to create striking or aesthetically pleasing collateral to achieve business and communication objectives. The work of a Graphic Designer is often seen in billboards, posters, magazine layouts, product packaging, and websites.
Tasks and duties
- Identifying design requirements based on project briefs.

- Working closely with an Art Director or with other members of a creative team including Editors and Copywriters.
- Presenting design pitches to team members, supervisors, or clients.
While companies of various industries employ Graphic Designers for their various business needs, they are usually found in media, advertising, marketing, or public relations companies, working either in-house or in an agency.
How to become a Graphic Designer
Graphic Designers need strong design skills which are usually developed through formal education.
Obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts, Design, or Media.
Alternatively, you can also gain a diploma in visual arts, visual communication, or design.
Prepare an extensive portfolio of your work, whether paid or unpaid, that showcases your skills and abilities.
Look into upskilling and mastering a particular design programme or learning new software or tools.
