What's it like to be a Physician?
A Physician, commonly referred to as a Doctor, provides healthcare to patients in a variety of settings like hospitals, private clinics and community health centres. They perform examinations, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's condition. A Physician might also provide preventative care advice to promote overall wellbeing. There are many specialisations within the field of medicine, such as paediatrics, cardiology, neurology and others, which require additional years of training.
Tasks and duties
- Examining patients to assess their physical health and diagnose illnesses or injuries.
- Performing medical procedures and treatments based on the individual health needs of patients.
- Providing advice on preventative health care, diet and lifestyle choices to promote overall health.
- Prescribing and administering medications and therapies in accordance with patient's conditions and responses.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, like Nurses, Therapists and Physicians, to discuss care plans and treatment options.
- Contributing to medical research studies by staying up to date with the latest discoveries and treatments in the field.
- Maintaining records of patient medical histories, diagnoses, treatments and other essential health information.
